German election exit polls show a tie between the current governing party, the centre-right Christian Democrats, and the centre-left Social Democrats. A coalition with the German Greens, whose policies include cutting greenhouse gases by 70% by 2030, is a must for either party to form a government.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has stated that there is "plenty of fuel" and that the Royal Haulage Association was to blame for widespread panic buying at petrol stations across the country. This surge in demand has caused "at least half of UK petrol stations outside of the motorway network" to "run dry".


One of the world's largest plane manufacturers, Airbus, is gearing up to produce hydrogen powered jets by the "end of the decade". This is just one of the many efforts to curb the huge amounts of emissions produced by the air travel industry.
